Educated at Menzieshill High School, Scott came through United’s youth system and at 16 years old signed a three year contract with the Club in 2011. He joined the first team squad for pre-season training at the start of the 2011-12 campaign, but a serious leg injury in training ruled him out of action for a full year. Scott fought back from that injury, and played a prominent role in Stevie Campbell’s under 20s side during the 2013-14 season, and was voted the Under 20s player of the year. In April he was rewarded with a contract extension that tied him to the club until June 2016, and he made his first team debut coming on as a substitute at Celtic Park in the final League game if the season.
Two months in to the 2014-15 season, Scott joined Airdrieonians on loan until January 2015, and scored within two minutes of his debut for the League One side. His impressive form saw his loan deal extended until the end of that season, and he went on to make 30 appearances as Airdrie narrowly missed out on a Championship Play-Off spot.
On his return to Tannadice, Scott was back in the first team squad for the 2015-16 season and became a fixture in the side during a very difficult campaign. He scored his first goal for the Club in the League Cup win over Dunfermline in September 2015, and followed that up with the winning goal in the Scottish Cup tie against Partick Thistle in February.
